Black Bolt in Marvel Rivals: Is He Playable?
Black Bolt is not playable in Marvel Rivals. The official heroes page at marvelrivals.com listed 54 heroes on 12 October 2026 and he is not among them. NetEase has never announced him, and we found no credible datamine that contains him. This page explains who he is, what is actually known, and which playable heroes come closest.
Current status
- Playable: no.
- Announced by NetEase: no, not in a trailer, roadmap or Dev Vision video.
- Datamined: no reliable report. Black Bolt shows up on some "leaked characters" lists, but those lists are copied between low-quality sites and none of them points to game files. We do not count them as evidence.
- Most recent hero release: Gorr the God Butcher (Season 10, 11 September 2026). Season 10.5 (9 October 2026) added no new hero, and the Season 11 hero has not been named.
Black Bolt in the comics
Blackagar Boltagon is the king of the Inhumans and ruler of the hidden city of Attilan. He first appeared in Fantastic Four #45 (December 1965). His defining trait is his voice: it works like a quasi-sonic scream strong enough to level a city or worse at full strength, so he stays silent and communicates through his wife and cousin Medusa. He can also manipulate energy, fire concussive blasts, fly and project force fields, and he is physically very strong and tough.
How new heroes get announced
Because "leaked hero" lists are everywhere, it helps to know how a real hero arrives in Marvel Rivals. Heroes have appeared through a season roadmap, a Dev Vision video, an in-game teaser (for example a gallery card in the battle pass) and then the patch notes on release day. Release pace has been about two heroes a season for most of the game's life, with Season 1 adding four and the last few seasons splitting heroes across the half-season updates.
| Season | New heroes |
|---|---|
| Launch (December 2024) | 33 heroes, including Magneto, Storm, Thor and Hulk |
| 1 | Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, The Thing, Human Torch |
| 2 to 8 | Two per season, from Emma Frost and Ultron (2) to Devil Dinosaur and Cyclops (8) |
| 9 (10 July 2026) | Jubilation Lee |
| 9.5 (7 August 2026) | The Hood |
| 10 (11 September 2026) | Gorr the God Butcher |
| 10.5 (9 October 2026) | No new hero |
No entry in that history involved an Inhuman. A name that has never appeared in a roadmap, teaser or patch note is a wish, not a plan.
Playable heroes with a similar feel
| Hero | Role | What overlaps |
|---|---|---|
| Storm | Duelist | Flies and controls the battlefield with lightning and weather; her ultimate turns her into a hurricane that pulls enemies in |
| Thor | Vanguard | A royal-level powerhouse who spends a charge resource on lightning abilities and ends fights with a ground slam ultimate |
| Magneto | Vanguard | A metal-controlling powerhouse with shield abilities and an ultimate that absorbs enemy projectiles and throws them back as a meteor |
| Black Panther, Namor | Duelists | Other kings on the roster, if the royal fantasy is what you want |
Role and ability details come from the community wiki and change with balance patches; the in-game hero page is the final word.
FAQ
Does Marvel Rivals have an Inhuman hero?
We found no Inhuman on the official list. The roster draws mostly on the Avengers, X-Men, Fantastic Four, Guardians of the Galaxy and Marvel villains.
Why do other pages describe a "Sonic Scream" ability for him?
Because the scream is his comic power. A page that lists cooldowns or damage for it is guessing: there is no official kit.
Will he be added?
Unknown. If a hero is coming, NetEase usually reveals him in a season roadmap or teaser before launch. Until that happens, treat release claims as rumour.
