Party Chat and Team Chat in Marvel Rivals
In Marvel Rivals, team chat comes in two forms: text chat and voice chat. Both are shared with your whole six-player team, and the game has no confirmed private channel for friends only; players who want one usually use Discord or the console's party system. This page explains how to use and silence each, as of 12 October 2026. Menu names come from guides and player reports, so use them as a map, not a guarantee.
| You want to | How (PC) | Console |
|---|---|---|
| Type to your team | Press Enter, type, press Enter again | Use the on-screen keyboard or a headset |
| Hide the chat box | Ctrl + Shift + C (one player notes it may hide match chat generally) | Chat settings |
| Talk by voice | Hold your Push to Talk key; assign one in key bindings first | Voice chat is reportedly off by default on some consoles; enable it |
| Mute one player | Press P in a match, open Match Settings, click the voice or text icon next to the name | Start or Options button, then the same list |
| Switch types of chat off | Settings → Social → Chat → toggles for each message type | Same menu |
Text chat
Text chat is typed messages visible to your team. Keep messages short: ability timers, enemy flankers, "ult ready". Many players rely instead on the quick-ping and voice-line wheel, which passes information without typing.
Voice chat
Voice chat uses a push-to-talk key by default in PC guides. If your microphone does not work, check three things in order: the right input device in Settings, the push-to-talk binding, and whether voice chat is enabled for your platform. On console, reports say the setting can start out disabled.
Playing in a party
When you queue with friends, you share the match like any other player on your team. We did not find a documented option for a party-only voice channel inside the game, and guides conflict on the subject. The common workaround is a separate voice app for the group, and the in-game chat stays open to teammates who are not in your group.
Mute and block
- During a match: open Match Settings (P on PC, Start or Options on console) to see every player with separate voice and text icons.
- After a match: use the end-screen or History to report a player; see our report-from-replay steps.
- Whole categories: the Social tab in Settings lets you turn off specific message types, such as team or faction messages, per player guides.
A short callout format
Teams that win without long messages tend to use the same pattern: who, where, what. For example "Flanker, left of the payload, Hawkeye", or "Ult down, Hulk, 20 seconds". The same format works in voice and in text. Mention health or ultimate status instead of vague words like "help", and name the hero rather than a colour.
Practical rules for fewer arguments
- Use the ping wheel and callouts before long messages.
- Mute early. One muted teammate costs nothing; a tilted match costs a rank.
- Do not share personal details in public chat, and report harassment rather than replying.
FAQ
Can I turn off chat entirely?
Voice and text can be muted per player and by type in Social settings. We could not confirm a single master switch.
Does Streamer Mode hide chat?
Guides say its content protection keeps in-game chat and faction details off your stream. See Streamer Mode.
