Photo Mode in Marvel Rivals: Controls and Limits

Marvel Rivals added a Photo Mode in Season 6. It can be used only in the Times Square hub, not in Quick Play, Competitive or Practice vs AI, so you cannot take a screenshot mid-match with it. In Times Square you can zoom, rotate the camera and your character, apply filters and hide player names from the picture. Other players keep moving, so they can wander into your shot.

How to open it

PlatformInput (in Times Square)
PCHold the O key
PlayStationHold Options, then press the left stick
XboxHold Start, then press the left stick

Inputs are taken from guides published after the Season 6 release. If nothing happens, check that you are standing in the Times Square map rather than a queue screen.

What you can do

  • Camera: zoom in or out and rotate the view around your character.
  • Character: rotate your hero to face the camera or turn away.
  • Filters: apply preset colour filters to change the mood.
  • Names: hide other players' names from the final image.

Guides do not agree on whether the full interface can be hidden, and none of them confirm time-of-day or weather controls, so the earlier text on this page that promised them has been removed.

Limits

  • Not available in matches, so no in-game screenshots with the mode.
  • Other players are not frozen while you pose.
  • Where images are stored depends on your platform's screenshot settings.

Photo ops: a different thing

Times Square also hosts event photo ops, where you stand in for an Avengers character at a photo wall. They are an event feature, not Photo Mode. During Season 10.5 the official notes list "Iconic Scenes Photo Ops": a group photo with the NPCs outside the Avengers' Gift Shop gives the Avengers Emblem spray and 100 Units. It runs from 9 October to 22 October 2026 (UTC). Event rewards change, so read the in-game event page.

Other ways to take screenshots

Because Photo Mode is limited to Times Square, most players use their platform's capture tools for in-match shots. On PlayStation, the Share button; on Xbox, the capture button; on PC, Steam's screenshot key or a GPU overlay. For video, the in-game highlight system saves short clips; see replays and highlights. Platform captures include the HUD, so crop later if you need a clean image.

What else is in Times Square

Times Square is the game's social hub. Event content has appeared there repeatedly, including a Pym's Test Kitchen booth during the Winter 2025 update and the Avengers' Gift Shop photo walls in Season 10.5. The earlier Path to Doomsday photo ops ran until 28 May 2026, so reward windows close; if you see an old guide promising Units for a photo, check the dates. Photo ops are interaction stations: you step into a character silhouette, take the pose in your equipped costume and the game awards the event reward. In the Season 7.5 version the first photo gave 100 Units.

FAQ

Can I use Photo Mode in a replay?

We found no source saying so. For video, see how to watch and save replays.

Can I hide the HUD in a normal match to take screenshots?

Use your platform's capture tools, or the settings listed in the main menu; Photo Mode itself does not apply.

Why is my hero in the wrong costume?

Photo ops use your equipped skin. Photo Mode shows what you currently wear.
