Diablo 4 Penitent Greaves Unique Boots

You are permanently Unhindered and leave a trail of frost that Chills enemies. Your Chill effects then cause enemies to take increased damage from you, so every Chill you apply turns into a damage amplifier.

The trail applies the Chill automatically as you move, while any other Chill source on your build benefits from the same bonus. Classes without their own Cold skills get a Chill source from the boots alone.

Unhindered is a game keyword: an Unhindered character can move through enemies, and their Movement Speed cannot be reduced. With the boots it never turns off, so slows from monsters do not hold you back and packs do not block your path. The always-present Movement Speed affix adds to the same idea, and the Primary Core Stat affix covers the main stat of whichever class wears them.

Because Unhindered lets you walk through enemies, you can stay in the middle of the monsters that the frost trail is Chilling. The damage bonus reads Chill only, so a build with other cold or freezing sources benefits from every extra Chill it applies.

• Slot and class: Boots, usable by every class.
• Fixed affixes: it always drops with Primary Core Stat and Movement Speed.
• Where it drops: it has no dedicated Lair Boss. It comes from random drops, or from converting a Common item of the same slot in the Horadric Cube.
• Unique Charm: a Unique Charm version of this item exists.

• Torment I difficulty unlocked.

Which classes can wear Penitent Greaves?

All of them.

Do I need a Cold build to use the boots?

No. The frost trail provides the Chill by itself, though a build with its own Chill effects makes more of the damage bonus.
