Using Perfect Soft Spot

Soft Spot rewards precise shooting. Each weakpoint you destroy opens a short window of extra weapon damage, and the perfect version on Instigator makes that window stronger than the standard talent. The base Custom M44 is a bolt-action rifle, so the usual rhythm is to break the weakpoint with one shot and cash in the bonus on the next. Outcast enemies make natural targets because their gear carries exposed weakpoints.

The ordinary talent behind Perfect Soft Spot is Soft Spot; the perfect version on Instigator is the improved form, fixed on the weapon.

Instigator FAQ: common questions

What counts as a weakpoint?

A highlighted weak spot on an enemy's body or gear. The talent only reacts when you destroy one, so it does nothing against enemies that show none.

Is Instigator the same weapon as Achilles?

No. Both carry Perfect Soft Spot and arrived together in The Pact, but Instigator is a marksman rifle built on the Custom M44, while Achilles is a rifle built on the USC .45 ACP.

What are the in-game sources of Instigator?

It joined the general loot pool with The Pact and also drops as marksman rifle targeted loot.
