What the catalyst does

Hitting three separate targets increases damage, range, handling and aim assist for a moderate duration.
The unlock asks you to collect Essence of the Oversoul from Crota's End and its related triumphs.
Bungie's obscured description says the catalyst is acquired within the raid.

Raid and weapon context

The Necrochasm rifle uses Cursebringer to set off Cursed Thrall corruption explosions, and the raid's seven Legendary weapons share the Cursed Thrall origin trait. Crota's End is open to every player and takes up to six. Update 9.7.0 fixed two Necrochasm issues: Necrotic Grip now gives it the bonus to airborne effectiveness, and its corruption can sit beside the potent corruption of Osteo Striga and Necrotic Grip instead of removing or extending it. The Masterwork extra completes the upgrade and adds the kill tracker.

Triumphs around the raid

Perfected Truth asks for all encounters without dying, Spoils of Conquest for every hidden chest, In Unison for a fireteam of one class, Broken Throne for the Master tier and Conquest By Virtue for every Master-tier challenge.
