Atlas and Almanac Quest is an order for the second quest of The Desert Perpetual, played inside the Epic raid. It follows the Map and Territory quest, and the order lists raid-gear focusing and the Whirling Ovation catalyst among its rewards.

Key facts

Quest	Atlas and Almanac (follows Map and Territory)
Map and Territory start	Visit Dean Rebecca on Kepler
Atlas and Almanac steps	Return to placed anchors and to the Simulant Ansible
Catalyst	Whirling Ovation Catalyst, attunable to drop on the next Desert Perpetual encounter
Raid	The Desert Perpetual, Epic version, The Edge of Fate

The quest chain

Map and Territory sends you to Dean Rebecca on Kepler, then to the Simulant Ansible in the Nursery, to find where simulations converge, and finally asks you to complete the raid. Atlas and Almanac continues from there: you return to the anchors you placed to study the layers of simulation beneath them, and back to the Simulant Ansible.

What it unlocks

The Whirling Ovation Catalyst can be attuned so that it drops the next time an encounter in The Desert Perpetual is completed. The lot also lists a way to focus weapons and armor from the raid, and Update 9.7.0 lets the Simulant Ansible vendor sell gear at the highest tier your current feat selection allows, once an encounter has been completed.

What you get

The Epic raid completed in full with the puzzle steps of the quest.
A way to focus raid weapons and armor, and the catalyst for Whirling Ovation if the weapon is on your account.
All gear that drops during the quest, a Self-play (Sherpa) extra, and Express or Super Express speed.

Requirements

An active Destiny 2 account.
A Power level of 300 or more.
The Map and Territory quest completed, and the Atlas and Almanac quest acquired.
