Barrow-Dyad is the Strand Exotic submachine gun of Episode: Heresy, Year 7 of Destiny 2. It fires Primary ammo, builds blight as it deals damage, and turns the stored blight into Blighted Seekers when you reload.

Key facts

Weapon	Exotic Submachine Gun, Strand, Primary ammo
Intrinsic	Panic Response: builds blight from damage and converts it into Blighted Seekers on reload
Traits	Taken Divergence, Taken Resolution, Taken Ambition
Catalyst refits	High-Impact Reserves, Hatchling, One for All, Target Lock
Origin	Episode: Heresy (Year 7, June 2024 to July 2025)
Retired quest	The Taken Path, retired with the Year 8 Content Vault; the weapon may stay earnable by other means
Related mission	Derealize, on Bungie's list of available exotic missions (Pinnacle Ops); 2025 guides credit it with the SMG
Unlock triumphs	Intrinsic Iteration (intrinsic perks) and Catalytic Collection (catalysts)
Catalyst record	Obtained from the "Taken Path" quest (the record text has not changed since the quest was retired)
Pattern	Deepsight Resonance extractions unlock its Pattern

How the current version plays

Panic Response: the intrinsic. Blight builds while you deal damage and drains when you stop firing, the magazine refills slowly meanwhile, and a reload converts the blight into seekers.
Traits: Taken Resolution (hitting three targets makes a lot of blight, and seekers bore through targets), Taken Ambition (blight grows the longer you stay on a target, and seekers burrow in and explode) and Taken Divergence, which combines the two.
Parts: six barrels, six magazines and five grips to choose from.
Catalyst refits: High-Impact Reserves, Hatchling, One for All and Target Lock.

Getting it today

Bungie retired The Taken Path quest when the Episode content went to the Vault and says weapons from such quests may stay earnable by other means. Derealize, the exotic mission that 2025 guides name as the place where the SMG is claimed, is still on Bungie's list of available exotic missions in Pinnacle Ops, while the catalyst record still names the retired quest. Two triumphs track the upgrades, Intrinsic Iteration for the intrinsic perks and Catalytic Collection for the catalysts, and Deepsight Resonance extractions unlock its Pattern.

What you get

Weapon Options: Obtain the SMG, Upgrades Only, or Barrow-Dyad + All Intrinsics + All Catalysts.

Requirements

The Upgrades Only option works on a Barrow-Dyad that your Collections already show as owned.
