Weapon source	Exotic engrams; Xûr
Catalyst source line	Found in strikes, Gambit, and the Crucible

What the catalyst adds

Genesis refills the magazine from reserves when a shot breaks a combatant's shield. Energy weapons also regain ammo on hit when their damage type matches the combatant's shield.

Arbalest fires slugs that do massive damage to combatant shields, and its Disruption Break frame leaves enemies vulnerable to Kinetic damage after a shield breaks, so the catalyst helps it chain through shielded targets without stopping to reload.

Unlocking and masterworking

The catalyst's triumph asks you to defeat combatants while using Arbalest. Its source line in the game data names strikes, Gambit and the Crucible, and Xûr's weekend inventory can include catalysts.

Arbalest itself comes from Exotic engrams, which the Cryptarch decodes, or from Xûr. The lot offers a Masterwork extra on top of the catalyst.

What you get

Arbalest Catalyst FAQ

What does Genesis refill?

The magazine of the Arbalest, from reserves, whenever you break a shield with it.

Is the catalyst random?

It unlocks by defeating combatants with the rifle; the lot sells the finished upgrade.

What are Arbalest's own traits?

Compounding Force, which fires slugs that do massive damage to shields and is strong against Barrier Champions, and Disruption Break, which makes an enemy vulnerable to Kinetic damage after a shield break.
