Key facts

Build focus	PvE close-combat critical-hit build with an exotic SMG
Exotic weapon	The Chatterbox, an exotic submachine gun (P90 variant)
Weapon talent	Incessant Chatter: reloading raises rate of fire per nearby enemy for that magazine; kills refill part of the magazine
Gear set	Hunter's Fury: +SMG and shotgun damage at 2 pieces, armor and health on kill at 3, Apex Predator at 4
Chest brand	Palisade Steelworks: armor on kill, protection from elites and +1 skill tier at brand completion
Backpack	Memento: exotic backpack with all three cores

Inside the loadout

The set's two-piece bonuses raise shotgun and SMG damage, which is why an SMG sits at the centre. Its four-piece talent, Apex Predator, debuffs enemies within 15 metres so your weapon damage against them is amplified, and killing a debuffed enemy disorients others nearby. The set's chest and backpack talents do not apply here: those slots hold the Palisade chest and the Memento.

The Chatterbox is a P90 variant whose talent, Incessant Chatter, raises the rate of fire for the whole magazine for each enemy close to you when you reload, and refills part of the magazine on kills. Its short range matches the set, so the build plays up close.

What you get

The Chatterbox exotic SMG and Hunter's Fury pieces with critical hit chance and damage attributes.
A Palisade Steelworks chest, the Memento backpack and mods for crit chance and crit damage.
Skill kit: Crusader shield and Reviver Hive; specialization Gunner.
Core Stats picks the core attribute of the armor pieces: Weapon Damage (red) or Armor (blue).
'I have Chatterbox' and 'I have Memento' skip those items if you own them. 'Add Coyote's Mask' adds the exotic mask with the Pack Instincts talent, and 'Add Dark Winter SMG' adds the named Vector SBR with Perfect Killer.
Three upgrade levels exist: the base build, 'High-Stat Armor (95%)' with near-maximum armor and mod rolls, and 'Upgrade Gear to Prototype', which raises the gear to the tier above Gear Set items.

Requirements

Level 40, with an SHD level of at least 100.
Prototype upgrade: each converted piece at level 40 and at maximum Expertise (level 30).

FAQ: Hunter's Fury PvE Build

Why is the build short-range?

Hunter's Fury needs you within 15 metres of enemies to debuff them, and the Chatterbox's rate of fire scales with nearby enemies, so both want you close.

What is Pack Instincts?

The talent on Coyote's Mask: you and your allies gain critical hit damage when the last enemy you hit is close, and critical hit chance when it is far.
