The Manticore Catalyst

Flying Monster is the perk this catalyst brings: while airborne, sustained damage and final blows on difficult combatants grant a Void overshield, reduce combatant accuracy and return ammo to the magazine. Everything on this weapon rewards being in the air, so the catalyst adds defence and ammo to that same habit.

Soaring Fang is the intrinsic of The Manticore: damage dealt while grounded charges antigrav repulsors, damage dealt while airborne extends them, and an alternate weapon action turns them off. Swooping Talons: dealing damage while airborne increases the weapon's damage output. The other fixed perks on the weapon are Arrowhead Brake, Ricochet Rounds and Fitted Stock.

In the current game the catalyst comes from a quest named Volantes Violentiam, which Banshee-44 offers. The opening step asks for reconstructing the catalyst by defeating targets with Submachine Guns while airborne. The calibration step then has you defeat targets with The Manticore while Ops activities add progress, with Crucible wins adding extra. The last step is the return to Banshee-44 for the finished catalyst. The catalyst record counts 700 targets defeated with The Manticore. Progress shows on the catalyst's record in the Exotic Catalysts section of the Triumphs screen.

• The Manticore catalyst, unlocked and delivered to your account, without the masterwork step.
• Extras on the order form: Add Catalyst Masterwork.

• The Manticore already unlocked on the account, because the catalyst is slotted into that submachine gun.

Does the order include the masterwork?

Not by default. Add Catalyst Masterwork is a separate extra, and it is the one to choose when you want the masterwork done.

How does Soaring Fang work on The Manticore?

Damage dealt while grounded charges antigrav repulsors, damage dealt while airborne extends them, and an alternate weapon action turns them off.

Where do I get The Manticore itself?

The Manticore is sold in the Exotic Archive at the Monument to Lost Lights, for an Exotic Cipher and Glimmer. Buying it needs The Witch Queen. The catalyst fits that weapon alone.
