Roast 'Em explained

The Proximity Knife's explosions scorch targets, and the knife can also ignite an enemy on a final blow. While a thrown knife is still waiting to explode, your melee energy regenerates faster.

Scorch damage gives back a little melee energy, and an ignition final blow refunds the whole melee. That refund can overflow into an extra knife charge, so a run of kills keeps the knives coming.

Playing it

Proximity Knife is a Solar Hunter melee, so the gauntlets slot into a Solar build that leans on melee kills.

Scorch and ignition are the Solar status effects, so grenades and weapons that apply them chain with the gauntlets.

Caliban's Hand FAQ

A full melee energy refund that can overflow into an additional knife charge.

Do the gauntlets work on other melee abilities?

No. The effect is written for the Proximity Knife, so other melees are not changed.

Where does Caliban's Hand come from in the game?

Its collection entry lists Exotic Armor Focusing as the source. Bungie's Help Center notes that Exotic Ciphers can be used to focus Exotics at the Cryptarch.
