Blood Magic: what the perk does

While you stand in any rift, damaging a target marks it. You deal extra damage to marked targets, and weapons whose element matches your Super's add a further bonus on top. Weapon final blows while standing in any rift pause the rift's countdown, extending its duration.

The Rift is the arena for the whole perk, and kills inside it keep that arena open longer. Lore text on Sanguine Alchemy points to a line that there is power in blood.

Sanguine Alchemy in today's loot

The collection entry of Sanguine Alchemy has the source line exotic engrams and extremely rare world drops. The piece also appears in the exotic engram previews, which Rahool decodes in the Tower. A character can wear a single exotic armor piece, so with Sanguine Alchemy on, the other armor slots have to hold non-exotic gear.
