Shaped weapons in Destiny 2 have a weapon level that rises as you use them and through Weapon Level Boost. This lot levels a shaped weapon of the ammo type you choose, Primary, Special or Heavy, to the level you set on a slider from 1 to 20.

Key facts

Weapon level system	Shaped weapons have an Increase Weapon Level socket; higher levels cost more currency
Gear Tiers	Gear Tier stat boost applies only to weapons with an Enhanced Intrinsic (Update 9.7.0)
Enhanced Weapon Mods	Unlocked at Gear Tier 3 (Update 9.7.0)
Tier 5 reach	Crafted weapons capable of reshape can reach Gear Tier 5 (Update 9.7.0)
Level range sold	Weapon level 1 to 20, for Primary, Special or Heavy ammo weapons
Ammo types	Primary ammo is unlimited; Special and Heavy ammo come from bricks
Gear Tier scale	Difficulty maps to Gear Tiers 1 to 5: Normal is Tier 1, Advanced Tier 2, Expert Tier 3, Master Tier 4, Grandmaster and Ultimate Tier 5

How weapon levels work

A shaped weapon carries an Increase Weapon Level socket that can be applied repeatedly, and higher levels cost more currency.
Only weapons with an Enhanced Intrinsic get the additive stat boost tied to their Gear Tier.
Update 9.7.0 lets weapons unlock Enhanced Weapon Mods at Gear Tier 3 and lets crafted weapons that can reshape reach Gear Tier 5.
The Weapon Level Boost in weapon inspection is where the gear tier is raised.
The same update realigned the components of crafted weapons such as Dead Messenger and Barrow-Dyad with their weapon level.

Which type to pick

The three choices are ammo types, not weapon slots: a Primary, Special or Heavy weapon can sit in the Kinetic, Energy or Power slot depending on the weapon. Primary ammo is unlimited, while Special and Heavy ammo come from bricks, so pick the ammo type of the shaped weapon you actually want leveled.

Shaped Weapon Leveling FAQ

Can I level a Primary weapon?

Yes. Primary is one of the three weapon types on the order form, next to Special and Heavy.

Does leveling change the weapon's perks?

No. The perks stay the ones you shaped; higher levels open enhanced options at the crafting table, and the base weapon stays the same.
