What Vexcalibur does

The intrinsic, M1R Distribution Matrix, fires a spread and comes with a shield that drains quickly. Blocking damage with the shield gradually bestows Void overshields on you and your nearby allies.

Perpetual Loophole supports the melee side: while you have an overshield, melee damage is higher, and melee final blows refresh the overshield. The Glaive also has a Protocol Socket for the mission's authorization protocols.

Avalon and the catalyst

The game data names the //node.ovrd.AVALON// Exotic quest as the source, and the mission is among the exotic missions available today. The old Variable quest was vaulted with Year 7, but the weapon remains in the game. Pinnacle Ops are endgame activities for fireteams of three with their own loot pool.

The catalyst socket accepts three refits: Immovable Refit, Robber Refit and Feedback Refit, which the lot offers in its Exotic Catalysts List.
