Exotic Cipher

Exotic Ciphers are earned in seasonal passes and other reward tracks, and they focus Exotics at the Cryptarch among other uses.

The Monument to Lost Lights in the Tower takes Exotic Ciphers and Glimmer for older Exotic weapons and armor, so a stock of Ciphers decides how many legacy Exotics an account can buy.

The Chronolog Exchange at the Monument to Seasons Past sells one Exotic Cipher a week for 500 Chronologs.

One a week is a slow trickle for an account that focuses many Exotics, and a farmed supply covers the difference.

A Cipher is spent on focused decoding of an Exotic Engram at the Cryptarch, while plain decoding gives a random Exotic. The Chronolog Exchange sells both, a Cipher for 500 Chronologs and an Engram for 300, each once a week.

Chronologs themselves come from the Weekly Reward Track at 300 a week since Update 9.7.0, from the weekly Vanguard Alert at 200, and from 3,500 on the Triumphant Rewards Pass, so a player collecting many Exotics runs out of weekly allowance quickly.

The Exotic Cipher itself is an Exotic-tier currency item.

• Quantity: from 1 to 5 Exotic Ciphers per order.
• Extras: Self-play (Sherpa).

• An active Destiny 2 account.
