What the catalyst changes on Microcosm

The catalyst adds two perks. Thresh: each kill adds a little Super energy. Stopping Power: the Kinetic ordnance staggers more easily and gains target acquisition and extra damage against enemies that are nearly dead. Super energy from kills pairs with the beam's extra damage after the Super ends.

The intrinsic of Microcosm is Paracausal Beam: fires a beam of Kinetic light with massive bonus damage to shields. Paracausal Imbuement: final blows grant Super energy, and the weapon gains bonus damage once your Super expires. The other fixed perks on the weapon are Hammer-Forged Rifling, Enhanced Battery and Hand-Laid Stock.

How the catalyst is earned in the game

The catalyst drops in Vanguard, Gambit and Crucible activity, and it is completed by defeating targets with Microcosm. Progress shows on the catalyst's record in the Exotic Catalysts section of the Triumphs screen.
